Dream Home: Open Shelving

I don't know what it is about open shelving, but I feel like it gets me. OK, fine I think I do know—I like being able to see what's available to me and having it comfortably within my reach when I want it (kind of like my clothes, but currently....#nocloset). As much of an interiors junkie as I can be, I really appreciate a home that's well designed, functional and looks like you could actually LIVE in it. I've never grasped the concept of a beautifully designed room...in which you are to touch nothing, sit on nothing, use nothing. 

There's something particularly inviting about open shelving, where its residents beg for you to make introductions with all your friends during a dinner party, or jars on jars of ingredients tempt you to stay home and get a little messy in the kitchen, don't you think?

Color Inspiration: Turquoise

Turquoise has long been one of my favorite colors, especially to wear. If I had to guess, I'd put a solid half of my clothing in the blue family, and even more leaning towards this rich, stunning hue. Not quite blue, not quite green, it reminds me of the ocean and looking at it immediately makes me feel relaxed. I would love to live in a bedroom decorated like the one below (and someday, you may see some photos of my room looking eerily inspired by turquoise on here). If I had a house, you bet I would try to paint it turquoise with blue doors. I haven't quite gotten around to the idea of turquoise lipstick, so for now I think I'll just stick to my nails frequently being painted a shade of blue! Like a Cozy Blanket & a Warm Fire

...with a cup of hot cocoa.

Okay fine, that's not exactly what this post is about, but I do have cozy bedrooms on my mind (this probably stems from a lack of sleep, but let's not get into the psychology of it). Like any good Internet addict, I turned to Pinterest to mine my inspiration...and I discovered I actually have a bit of a pattern.

Despite my love of bright, bold colors in my wardrobe, I tend to be drawn to neutral spaces, especially a clean white. I think this is because it's like a blank slate, though I would certainly add pops of color throughout, but there's also something incredibly cozy and comforting about a fluffy white duvet and clean lines.
