Dream Home: Floor Games in Barcelona

It's been a longer hiatus than I would have liked, but I'm back! I took another trip home to be with my family after my grandfather passed away this past weekend, rounding it out to a trip back every other weekend for a month straight and making for an incredibly busy and exhausting week. Trying to get everything back on track takes a few days, but soon I'll be back to a normal sleep/posting/life schedule!

I've never been to Barcelona, but I think if I were to live in an apartment in a city with such rich history I would hope it would have floors as cool as these (and bookshelves as long as those below, too!). The amazing tiles and artwork make this home feel like it would be perfect for company, whether it's an intimate dinner gathering or a loud & festive bunch!

I could see myself getting some work done next to these huge, bright windows. Nothing like a little sunshine for some motivation!

I hope everyone's having a wonderful week so far-remember to keep the people of Boston in your thoughts, and if you're looking to donate make sure you know what's real and what's a scam. To find out how you can really help, here's a list of reputable charities & ways to donate.

Dream Home: Exposed

Happy Wednesday! I'm making a little change from Home of the Week Wednesday's to posting a Dream Home each Wednesday. Still the same idea-beautiful homes, whether they are houses in the country or studios in the city, filled with decor and design that inspire me and/or make me want to live there.

This week's home comes out of Belarus and is filled with modern accents (how about that crazy fireplace?) next to exposed copper pipes, matte brick and smooth, weathered wood.

Funky copper light fixtures and floor to ceiling windows flood the otherwise darker color palette with tons of light, and the jade-turquoise oversized couch brings just the right amount of color (and coziness!).

This loft feels like the perfect place to throw a great party-plenty of space and cozy niches for any type of gathering!

Home of the Week: A Cozy Apartment in Stockholm

Stockholm may be in Sweden but the details in this apartment feel very French country-chic. A mix of worn wood and faded prints cover the walls next to smoothly painted white surfaces, all situated behind sleek lamps, carved tables and cozy throws.

Everything about this apartment feels balanced, from the high-low pieces to the sleek-rustic contrast. Happy Wednesday!

Home of the Week: A Color Crush in Purple

I keep coming back to homes filled with vibrant color layered over a neutral base. If you'd asked me ten years ago, or even five, I would have told you I prefer bright colors-saturated paint and colorful trim. As I've matured, (I like to think) my style sense has, too.

The sleek, modern neutrals used as the foundation for this home in Spain allow the wash of purple accessories & accents to stand out. Using different shades of the same color makes the home feel cohesive, down to the artwork in black & white throughout (like the little coasters with pictures of Paris-my favorite!).

Hello, pop of citrus!

Bonjour, Paris!

How gorgeous is that back wall? I love the idea of a chalkboard wall filled with big, bold words that inspire me. Simple & to the point!

P.S...it'll slowly come to light over the next few months, but I'm planning on a complete re-do of my room this spring, possibly moving into a bigger room in my apartment! Thinking purple will be one of my accent colors...it's just too gorgeous not to include!

Home of the Week: Cozy Neutrals + French Flair

There's something about a neutral palette that's really been tugging at me lately. Maybe it's the idea of a fresh start, and the opportunity to change the details often without having to repaint (...although I do love a good coat of paint).

Architect Carlos Aparicio filled his Florida home with unique items and hard to find antiques that still give a modern vibe (read up about all the amazing detail here!). Enough with words, though; I'd rather let this beautiful home speak for itself.
